Role playing shooter (RPS for short) is the unnatural offspring formed by splicing the DNA of an FPS and RPG together. It is probably one of the greatest game genres ever to step foot on this big green and blue planet! Several games have come close to being a fully blown RPS, for example Fallout 3, yet it’s shooting mechanism, outside of V.A.T.S, was piss poor and can’t really be classed as FPS style gun handling. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series has also come oh so near with it’s brilliant looting system and brilliant storyline. Yet it lacked any sort of leveling system which would have blown my mind. Borderlands, however, really defines what it is to be an RPS.
Do video games encourage debauchery?
Guns. Who doesn’t like guns? I think it is fair to say that most warm blooded males have a natural desire to shoot a gun. The only thing that stops most of us from doing so is due to the fact that 95% don’t live in a country which prides itself on having the constitutional right to bear arms. Luckily though, video games were invented to cater for our primitive urges without having to worry about the inherent dangers of running about with loaded weapons.
Like
